Oslo Museum of Art, Architecture and Design
202-12
Since this month, Solits display cases can be admired in Nasjonalmuseet, aka Norway's largest art museum in Oslo. For an exhibition of the famous British artist Grayson Perry, the Museum of Art, Architecture and Design commisioned us to make 25 large display cases of different sizes.
The museum had a specific wish for the 25 large acrylic display cases for the exhibition of the British artist Grayson Perry: they had to be made mitred, using high-quality UV bonding without compromizing strength and transparency of the displays. The museum approached Solits because they were not able to find a supplier in Norway who could make the desired sizes and the desired quality acrylic display cases at the same time.
We started right away, but that was still quite a challenge. Since UV glue is less strong than the two-component glue and the museum asked for large size display cases, we had to deviate from the usual 4 to 5 mm thickness of the acryl that we normally use, because the result would not be strong enough. We have therefore opted for acrylic plates that were 6 mm thick. As a result, the display cases are still beautifully transparent, but also sturdy and strong.
To ensure that the acrylic display cases arrive at the museum without any trace of damage, our own chauffeur drove all the way to Oslo to personally deliver the display cases. We are very pleased to see how beautiful the exhibition turned out. It is an honor for us to be part of this wonderful art museum and exhibition.
