Acrylic plinth
Let your product float
Polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) is a polymer of methyl methacrylate. This transparent thermoplastic is better known as acrylic, or by one of its popular brand names: Plexiglass. We use this to make impressive plinths.
This almost invisible plinth can carry the weight of up to 25kg in its standard configuration, but we also make bespoke acrylic plinths capable of carrying much heavier weights. We can also manufacture our acrylic products in dimensions larger than those you can calculate online. Since larger sizes often require knowledge of technical details (thickness of the material, placement of screws, knowledge of gluing technique etc.), please, do not hesitate to contact us for a cost quote and lead time on this at info@plinths.co.uk
Acryl is often used instead of glass, because of its obvious advantages: it is lightweight, hard to shatter, is more translucent and clearer than glass. Note that it has to be handled with cautions though, since it can be scratched easier than glass. Acryl creates a stunning floating effect for your artwork or product, visually emphasizing their characteristics and drawing people’s attention to them. It is equally beautiful used as a retail display or a museum pedestal.
We are excited to let you know that we now make our display cases and plinths from recycled Plexiglass, Astariglas® ECO CAST! Sustainability is becoming increasingly important nowadays, and we at Solits feel the responsibility to make our contribution into protecting the environment. Astariglas® ECO CAST has all the positive properties of standard Plexiglass/acryl, including the high degree of transparency, and it is 100% recyclable.
