Dutch Open Air Museum
Assignement details:
- Three large custom-made plinths are required within two weeks, with matching glass display cases - The museum wanted to be able to paint the plinths themselves
Execution:
For an exhibition of Soda in collaboration with studio PA2 (Pieter Aartsen), the Netherlands Open Air Museum asked us to make custom plinths with tempered glass display cases. The exhibition 'Makers in Image' can be seen in the Wagenhal of the Netherlands Open Air Museum and is about contemporary craftsmen.
The exhibition was to open for the public very soon, and the museum asked us to deliver several plinths with matching display cases within two weeks. Since we love a good challenge, we immediately started working on this assignment. One interesting facta bout this project is that the three meter long glass display case is the longest glass display case Solits has ever made. The Dutch Open Air Museum painted the plinths black, white and yellow after we delivered them to site. We are proud of the result!
The order:
- 3 custom-made plinths, made of primed MDF - 3 glass display cases, tempered glass, extra clear and flat polished (40x40x22.5 cm, 100x76x57.5 cm and 300x30x25 cm)
