At Solits, we believe in a future where sustainability and social impact play a major role. As a manufacturer of plinths, display cases and wall displays, we recognize our responsibility to minimize our impact on the environment. At the same time, we must continue to provide our customers with high-quality products.
Environmentally friendly materials
Our commitment to sustainability permeates every aspect of our operations, prioritizing use of environmentally friendly materials in the production of our plinths. We carefully select materials that are renewable and recyclable, materials that have been produced responsibly. We have included materials such as Ecoboard, Astariglas and cardboard from sustainably managed forests or recycled paper sources in our production. These materials embody innovation while simultaneously reducing the ecological footprint in various sectors. By choosing sustainable materials, we reduce the depletion of natural resources and minimize waste throughout the product life cycle. The LED lights we sell are among the most durable and guarantee a long lifespan. Wood-containing materials used in production, such as solid oak and MDF, are PEFC certified.
With Recycling in Mind
In addition, we use efficient production processes where energy saving and waste reduction are paramount. This ranges from optimizing production lines to implementing recycling programs within our facilities. We continually strive to minimize our carbon footprint and conserve resources. Our residual, paper and wood waste are managed by Renewi, a company at the heart of the circular economy that processes waste into products and is a leader in sustainable waste management.
Our acrylic waste is processed by Pyrasied, which provides an effective recycling service and is one of the leading suppliers of sustainable acrylic products in Europe. Our sustainability policy does not stop only at production. We do everything we can to ensure that our plinths have a long lifespan and have as little impact on the environment as possible during use. Our products are designed to last so they can stand the test of time and require replacement less often.
We also have what we call “sale” products, which are generously discounted. We offer plinths and display cases with a higher discount because they are non-standard in size or have a minor damage. The damage is often only on one side, so if you put such a plinth against the wall, you won't see the damaged part at all. Choose sustainable and give these products a second chance! Corporate Social Responsibility
In addition to our products, we are actively involved in initiatives that promote environmental conservation and corporate social responsibility. Whether through partnerships with conservation organizations, community outreach programs or employee-driven sustainability projects, we are committed to making a positive impact on the planet and the communities we serve. Solits does not only feel responsible for the well-being of its own employees. We are an integral part of the local community and want to make a positive difference. Over the years we have built partnerships with Middin, Villa Anders, the VluchtelingenWerk foundation and KIMG, which are non-profit organizations, contributing to (international) society in The Netherlands in different ways.
We believe that by embracing sustainable practices, we can not only minimize our environmental footprint, but also drive positive change in our industry and beyond. Together we are building a future where pedestals not only improve displays abd presentations, but also the well-being of our planet.
Internal processes
We have had 80 solar panels on the roof of our production and office facilitysince 2020. With the smart meters and the recently added P1 meters, we can accurately monitor how much electricity we consume and how much we give back to the network. Our energy supplier is Engie, a global leader in low-carbon energy supply and related services. We do not use water as part of our production process.
Personnel and safety policy
One of our core values is maintaining the physical, mental, emotional and social health of our employees. As a company, we assign great importance to the balance between private and work life of our employees and to their level of satisfaction with their working environment. We are a very flat-structured organization, where every employee has a lot of room to influence their own work and the company policy in general.
While a no-discrimination policy comes naturally to us as a company, it is also part of our employee handbook, which states that discrimination of any kind and physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated and will have consequences. We have a trained confidential counselor on staff, and it is possible to hire an external confidential counselor if necessary. Since we are a manufacturing company, safety at work is one of our top priorities. We document any risks and evaluate them regularly. All our employees wear appropriate personal protective equipment to carry out their production tasks in a safe and efficient manner. They are also given sufficient breaks to ensure that they are rested and can concentrate properly on carrying out their tasks. And we think social well-being is just as important, so we strongly believe in sharing some quality time and coffee together!
